The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is a true hidden gem! Just a short drive from the city, it offers over 3,600 acres of peaceful wilderness with beautiful trails, scenic views, and a wide variety of wildlife. One of the highlights is definitely the bison herd.
This is my 2nd time visiting Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. The first time was during the summer and I drove straight to Greer Island. Drive slowly because we saw a multitude of wildlife crossing the road from squirrels to deer to armadillos.
Came here with my son and my sister and we had a great time. We drove most of the paved roads, took a 2.5 mile hike and saw plenty of wildlife! Prairie dogs, bison, cranes, hawks, deer, and even an ALLIGATOR! All of the employees were very nice and informative.
I LOVE this place. It's got tons of different spots to visit and the hiking on great. Many are short but you can also combine to get long distances. There are some really great kayaking entryway. The Lillypad walkway is a must see as is the bison viewing station.
