Confirmed from French Creek State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This 7,730-acre park offers forests, lakes, wetlands, hiking trails, campsites & picnic areas.
What runners say about French Creek State Park
“The park is beautiful, with well-maintained grounds and plenty of scenic trails to explore.”
“Very beautiful but often fully booked so plan and reserve ahead or you’d have to place musical sights and move around each day depending on availability.”
“The trails are nicely maintained and clearly marked.”
“Whether you're looking for outdoor adventure or simply a peaceful place to relax, this park has something for everyone.”
This is an excellent park for outdoor activities! 🏞 I usually come to this park to rent a kayak on the lake! [Highly recommended activity here] It's very quiet here with plenty of trees and paths to walk and enjoy the serenity! The workers at the desk are very friendly and easy-going!
Camped there with our travel trailer-very nice park. Our campsite was in Loop A,which is pet friendly. The sites are pretty spacious with shades. If you camp with kids, choose loop A-its much closer to the playground. We didn't use bathouse but they were clean and had showers.Park has 2 lakes, but swimming is prohibited.
The Boone trail is a nice 6 mile loop. The trails are nicely maintained and clearly marked. There were 2 fallen trees along the trail but they were fairly easy to climb over. There's portable restrooms in the middle of the loop. There is clear signage at the intersections of trails making it easy to navigate.
We were here in early April. Unfortunately it was wet and cold. However we still had a wonderful time. So many great trails to hike or bike. A bit cold to get out on the lakes, but I can imagine really nice to explore on the warmer days. The campsite is nice, set in woodlands.

“Only thing missing is a private bathroom, but the bathroom with two showers is a short walk down the road.”
“They use to have a rustic loop that had only tents but now it's all noise.”
“Whether you're looking for outdoor adventure or simply a peaceful place to relax, this park has something for everyone.”
“The sites are very close together and it's pretty muddy because there's no gravel layer next to the paved camper spots.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
