Confirmed from Fryman Canyon Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Beautiful area with a few miles of trails in the hills overlooking LA and Hollywood. Good for dog walking. The small parking lot was full but we parked on a street a block away.

Me and Charlie my dog went first time on this trail. I hike a lot in this was totally one of the best ones. You can see lots of neighborhoods in LA. You can see the downtown lots of people walking with their dogs good people fun talks great walk.

I hike here often, and it’s a good and easy hike! The beginning is paved and uphill. The end of the hike is through a residential street with huge mansions. Some hate that, but I think it’s fun to dream. :) There’s usually lots of other people and dogs, but there’s ample parking.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
