Confirmed from Glenroy Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Well-maintained area featuring bamboo groves, meadows, and hiking trails for biking and strolling.
What runners say about Glenroy Preserve
“The yellow, blue, and green trails are all very well maintained and can be biked fairly easily (with the exception of a few spots).”
“Probably the most Beautiful and vast nature preserve I've ever been to!”
“October 2025, great well marked trails easy walk nice scenery.”

Such a beautiful local treasure. Well maintained, pet and family friendly. The trails are well marked. There are plenty of paths to the creek. The Bamboo forest and black eyed Susan field are wonderful photo opportunities. So grateful to be so close to this place.
Such a great moderate hike - recommend trying to get in and walking around during golden hour. Trails are decently marked, but the map is very accurate. Also wear waterproof footwear as there are a few creek crossings with minimal stones.
The place to be when its Spring, Summer, Fall and winter. Plenty of parking. Great Fishing off the Trails Along the octoraro creek. Many trails to enjoy. Not to rocky but I recommend High Ankle hiking Shoes. A place to have a picnic, and just enjoy yourself. There are 2 portable bathrooms at the main parking lot.
This place is great. The orange loop has one very large hill, but is otherwise beautiful. The yellow, blue, and green trails are all very well maintained and can be biked fairly easily (with the exception of a few spots). My (badass) 3.5 year old son and I have biked most of them.
Trail conditions & character
“Probably the most Beautiful and vast nature preserve I've ever been to!”
“Moderate hike, variation of scenery and elevation, some sun, some shade.”
“The orange trail on the other side of the overpass from the parking lot has a more difficult climb and crosses the creek about 5 times.”
“My wife and I are in our mid 60s and we hike the 3 mile yellow loop trail.”
“over half of it is wooded with shade and the rest is along some pretty meadows.”
“October 2025, great well marked trails easy walk nice scenery.”
“There were a couple of light muddy spots, but; absolutely nothing to worry about.”
“My point to all of this is the map at the beginning of the trails should give a 🔑 for: bike or walking, experience level, and if they are more hills and rocks or both.”
“There are 2 portable bathrooms at the main parking lot.”
