Confirmed from Gravois Greenway Trailhead: Backstoppers Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Gravois Greenway Trailhead: Backstoppers Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (28 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“We don't usually stop here and my son doesn't play on playgrounds anymore 😢 but the equipment all looks well maintained.”

A drinking fountain and a pavilion if you need a break along Grant's Trail. Convenient trail parking nearby as well; also within walking distance to the newly remodeled Oak Bend branch of the St. Louis County Library. This "park" is located at the Kirkwood end of the trail.

★★★★☆ — K. , May 2019

Love this greenway! Wildlife abounds as well as the greenery, wide paved paths, and plenty of restrooms.

★★★★★ — Jodi , Jun 2023

Been here dozens of times as we complete our first half of our trips on Grant's Trail. The pedestrian light at Big Bend is a little slow to change but at least there's a stop sign on the other end of the park.

★★★★★ — A-A-Ron , Nov 2019

Good walking/ cycling trail. It crosses a lot of major roads which makes for a lot of stops and starts. Well maintained, mostly flat, and had great scenery as you go.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
