Confirmed from Greens Coulee Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Greens Coulee Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (40 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“A fun place to go hike and some pretty great views of Onalaska, La Crosse, and beyond.”

I went hiking on the Green Coulee Park Trail this afternoon. It is one of those trails that is nestled in a small neighborhood that you would miss if you don’t know exactly where it is. This is a beautiful short trail that is moderately challenging.

This is a short series of trails but they are well groomed and visibly marked. The trail head is located in a small parking lot in the middle of a suburb, but after you get into the trail for a bit the houses fall away and there is a lot of active wildlife.

The morning we took the trail (visiting from Texas) was perfect weather: 70’s, sunny, low humidity, clear air. The region is stunningly beautiful & you get rewarded with a grand vista at the top. The trail is not especially long, but to geezers like my wife & me, it was steep. Well worth it.

This is a nice trail. There is a small parking lot, bike rack, doggie bags, a map, signs throughout the trail, and benches for people to sit down on to take a break. Overall, the path was clean and maintained. It is a steeper climb for those who may have some issues.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 12 mentions

“The summit overlooks the neighborhood with a few benches and picnic tables that are good for relaxing.”
