The Gulf Oak Ridge Trail runs along a ridge along the north side of Gulf Shores State Park. There is a small parking area at this trailhead where you can get Bloom bikes. This has the most natural elevation change of any trail in the park, which isn’t much. There is a pier going out to an overlook.
Decided to do the bike trail and it is totally worth it. The paved trail has a section that almost appears as if there an old road, looked very cool. Lots of awesome wildlife, and signed that describe what you’re seeing. There were also bikes available for use that the park provided throughout the trail.
This is a great area to bike. Lots of trails. Saw a few small alligators. They like to sit around or on drains. Would love clearer markings for paths. Easy to get lost on a wrong turn.
Beautiful walk. Did nature walk day before with naturalist so helped with identifying plant and blooms, and to watch for snakes and alligators. Didn’t see wildlife only foliage. I do wish there was a restroom break somewhere along the 3.25 miles we walked. Hiding in trees with snakes wasn’t an option.
