Confirmed from Heendah Hills State Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Heendah Hills State Preserve
“It was a pretty nice spot to take kids to fish quite and extremely clean just need to pick after your self to keep the place clean”
“This place is a beautiful hidden jem of Woodbury county!”
Amazingly well maintained crushed rock and mowed trails once you get past the gate a few yards. Breezy fall day was perfect with no bugs and a sunny 70 degrees. Trail goes around the pond. I think I did two miles with the addition of some extra side trails. Wear hiking shoes as it’s a little uneven but not too hilly.
Great three season park, the summer is it's down fall the main trail is three fourths useable. The chutes are off the main trail need to be mowed so they are useable for all hikers. REVISE REVIEW 6/08/19 THANK YOU FOR MOWING THE TRAILS 5 STAR NOW
Not very many people know about this place. Really a beautiful prairie with a nice pond. It's a good hike all the way around. The pond has a nice water quality for these parts and the fishing is decent. Give it a visit !
This place is a beautiful hidden jem of Woodbury county!!! It is high up in the Loess hills.. I felt like I had been transported somewhere else..
