Confirmed from Hialeah Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Hialeah Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (79 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“If you want, you can keep going along Hialeah until you reach the McDade trailhead, which is also a very nice and scenic trail that is bike-friendly.”

🏃 great for running 2 mentions

“The McDade Trail is great for running, walking, and biking.”

Started at the trailhead here with some friends, it was a very easy-going and wide path with beautiful sites. Pleasant forests with the Delaware river always peeking through the trees. This trailhead connects to other trails along the McDade Trail going up the river. This trailhead lasts 1.8 miles to the next one.

Hialeah has several picnicing areas and 2 small rest rooms. (I believe they are locked at sunset.) We park all the way down the path at the entrance to the McDade Trail, where there is room for several cars and parking is free. The McDade Trail is great for running, walking, and biking.

You have a few hills on the trail if you park here if looking for more of a flat ride go to the next stop on the trail

★★★★☆ — Dennis , Aug 2021

This trail was more difficult than I expected. I hiked from Hialeah to a bit beyond Smithfield Beach. The trial path was lined with stone gravel so there was no mud issues while hiking. However, the elevation changes significantly twice during this hike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

⛰️ Hills / elevation 14 mentions

“8 miles to Smithfield Beach, has quite a few hills, 2 of them quite steep ( I can't make it all the way up either one on my mountain bike).”

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work

  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
