Confirmed from Highlands to Islands Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Highlands to Islands Trail
“They have done an excellent job of keeping the area clean and it’s really nice when you can walk and not worry about cars.”
“It was mostly shaded in the woods, and the kids enjoyed seeing the planes fly overhead.”
Very pretty trail. Park at the Youth Ministry then head to your left for a more scenic walk. Head to your right for a noisy walk along the road and past the golf course. I would take the trail to the left.
This may not bother some people, but it may be a deal-breaker for others. There are spiders everywhere. Giant orb weavers have taken over the swath of trail that goes by the golf course and underneath Atlanta Hwy. It is an actual nightmare. Otherwise very nice trail though.
Wide, well-maintained sidewalk. We walked from Chicopee Mills to GVL Airport. It was mostly shaded in the woods, and the kids enjoyed seeing the planes fly overhead.
Great long walk, and it was good for bicycles and joggers. Starts in Oakwood al the way into Gainesville. I love taking relaxing walks daily, if possible.
