Confirmed from Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (252 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“We enjoyed hiking and photographing this beautiful nature trail and met friendly folks along the way.”

🪧 well-marked 9 mentions

“The Lake Loop trail my sister and I hiked, though not paved, is well marked and easy to follow, yet quite challenging because of some inclined terrain.”

Lovely wooded nature preserve with many shaded and charming, well-kept paths to wander. This is a hilly area so be prepared for some uphill climbs depending on what hike you choose. The walk down to the suspension bridge is lovely, a 2.

★★★★★ — Lisa , Nov 2022

Great trails for a beginner's hike. Moderate elevations and well marked trails. Several streams and one small lake near the Aquatic Center

★★★★★ — Greg , Jul 2022

Really cool trails to hike with maps along the way. Good chances to come across wildlife. Bugs are never bad when I go. Entry is $5.

★★★★★ — Bryce , Jun 2024

Wow! So glad I found this place. Beautiful hiking trails. The trails are well marked. Even the trees are tagged with what color trail you're on, making it almost impossible to get lost. I can't wait to come back. Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed, but they should be.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
