Confirmed from Hillcrest Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Hillcrest Park
“Great playground, lots of grass if you have dogs, tennis courts have always been well maintained, also quasi trails if you want to go walking, ample parking.”
“Nestled within the scenic Hillcrest Park, the lodge also provided a serene environment that enhanced the overall experience for our attendees.”
This amazing parro offers such a variety of pleasures! Your kiddos can climb and slide and jump on playgrounds. Folks can play basketball, tennis, or pickle ball. And I most enjoy walking on the wooded trails!
We recently hosted a professional clinic at the Hillcrest Park Lodge in Mount Vernon, WA, and it was an exceptional experience. The lodge comfortably accommodated our group of about 40 participants, providing ample space for both presentations and interactive sessions.
I've been visiting this place off and on my whole life. It started with childhood visits in the summers when I'd stay with my cousin and family. My uncle utilized the tennis courts and my cousin and I frequented the now defunct bmx track which provided hours on our bicycles there, and on the varied trails and paths…
The park is a little outdated, however, it is clean and never crowded. You usually get the park to yourself, so that's a plus. The squirrels can get a little aggressive at times. People feed the squirrels (they shouldn't be) so they think everyone has something for them.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
