We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Hobart Reservoir Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly hiking area offering scenic views.
What runners say about Hobart Reservoir Trail
“I was not able to finish the trail but it had a beautiful view as you are hiking up”
A STEEP trail. It's actually a dirt road that eventually gets to Hobart Reservoir after a steep 5 miles! Please drive slow through the neighborhood as there are kids who live there. Many deer have been hit on Hobart road so obey the 25mph speed limit please.
We went on June 3, a very hot day there was still snow on the ground, by the Reservoir. The views alone are worth the hike. It took us 3.5 hours to get to the wooden bridge at Hobart Reservoir. It says it was only 4.9 miles. According to my step monitor it was 7.5 miles. It took us 2 hours down.
It is a great warm-up hike, to prepare for bigger hikes. It has steep inclines, and flat areas, it has exposed areas with nice views along with shady foresty overgrowth places to cool off. The reservoir is pretty with lots of plants and flowers,, the tough part is going baack down, it can be hard on the shins
Challenging uphill hike. When you get to the pump station, you have a nice flat rejuvenating walk as a break before you start ascending again. Amazing views.
