Confirmed from Homestake Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area with kid-friendly trails and vault toilets.
What runners say about Homestake Trailhead
“Accessible to the I- 90, most RV needs are available, clean restrooms & showers nice views day or night”
“That just goes to show how gorgeous and awesome these trails are”
Absolutely love this trailhead. I always squirrel off though. I cant help it but thier are so many different rock formations and boulders that I like to climb and jump on. Easy enough for kids and you can make litlterally hike it till your worn out. Great for all ages especially beginners.
Continental Divide Trail and the city of Butte are closest to this trailhead. It's inaccessible in the winter. The old Northern Pacific Railway line intersects the Continental Divide mere feet from the trailhead. Significant to the area is the geological make up of the land, aka, the Boulder Batholith.
Trailhead parking lot was fine. Vault toilets. But all the roads around this trailhead were very hard to travel. Forest Service needs to run a grader through this area.
I did the wulfman here. I liked it, it did not like me! That just goes to show how gorgeous and awesome these trails are
