Confirmed from Hoyt Shadid Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Hoyt Shadid Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (2 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“It’s also incredibly convenient that the Altus Dog Park is within easy walking distance if you want to let your pup off-leash.”

Great all-in-one spot for the whole family! We really enjoyed the walk around the lake on the concrete path—it’s smooth and perfect for a stroller. After the walk, there was a nice playground for our toddler to burn off some energy while our dog got to chase a ball in the open field right next to it.

★★★★★ — Jake , Feb 2026

This park offers a multitude of activities for all ages. The walking path around the lake is 2.1 miles around both of the lakes or 1.6 around the main lake only. The path is freshly paved and provides a pleasant walk around the lake. The playground is large and modern and also futures a full sized basketball court.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
