Confirmed from Idaho Falls River Walk - Greenbelt Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Idaho Falls River Walk - Greenbelt Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (2,884 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“Great views of a waterfall that is part man-made, part natural that only drops maybe 12 feet or so, but goes on for 100 yards or more over many rocky areas.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“It was a beautiful day for the walk and definitely lowered my stress level with the peaceful surroundings.”

We were passing through Idaho Falls. We decided to take a detour and check out the falls. This place was beautiful. If I had the time, I would have loved to walk the 5-mile trail. While this is not a natural waterfall, it was still amazing to see. We even saw that you could take a boat tour if you wanted to.

Great views of a waterfall that is part man-made, part natural that only drops maybe 12 feet or so, but goes on for 100 yards or more over many rocky areas. The best part is on the west side just N of the broadway bridge up to views of the temple (1/2 mile one way).

What a great place to just go walk and enjoy the fresh air. The park benches are fun to stop at. They are all unique. Even in the winter, the greenbelt is the place to go walk and meet new people. This is one of our favorite places to go.

I went to Idaho Falls recently. I highly recommend everyone to go on the river walk. It is a beautiful area to walk along the river. There are many water falls and water features. Along the paved walkway they have installed lots of bench seats to rest along the way to stop and enjoy the view.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
