Confirmed from Central Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Central Park
“It features scenic walking paths, lakes, playgrounds, gardens, and plenty of spots to relax or enjoy outdoor activities.”
Central Park is an iconic urban oasis, offering a vast green space right in the heart of the city. It features scenic walking paths, lakes, playgrounds, gardens, and plenty of spots to relax or enjoy outdoor activities.
This is close to where we live, so it makes it nice to be able to have a place to go and walk around. The playground has been upgraded recently and is nice for kids under 10ish. My son and I generally go there to play pogo. Windy today, but my son and his friend had a fun time playing.
A nice small park. No swing set. Close to busy roads, you need to always make sure the kids are within sight. Big greens for the kids to run around. A nearby baseball field for the locals to play.
Trail conditions & character

“Two ball parks, kids jungle gym, restrooms and lots of mature pine trees along with picnic tables spread throughout.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
