Confirmed from Japanese Friendship Garden's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Japanese Friendship Garden
“It’s a beautiful garden, well maintained.”
“It is a lovely garden, filled with beautiful plants and different kinds of pathways, from stepping stones over water, to rock steps, to wooden platforms.”
“It was a pleasantly peaceful place where we saw people stop and listen to the falls.”
We visited the Japanese Friendship Garden right before a thunder storm hit. We retreated and went to get something to eat until the first storm passed. We then returned for a limited visit before the next thunder storm. So we had time to look around and visit. It was beautiful and well done.
Very nice relaxing friendship garden. It wasn’t busy when we visited and we were able to explore. Yes there is traffic but it wasn’t distracting. Clean and cozy area. Please stay on the path and treat the area with respect. Watch out for the mermaids.
Beautiful place to rest, exercise or read a book. The view and sounds of running water surrounding the place makes it very relaxing. To top it off there's a variety of birds who live in the park! Simply beautiful!!
Absolutely beautiful! We had such a great time at this park! Plenty of shade, beautiful landscaping, loved watching other people's photo shoots, just an awesome spot to stop!

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
