Confirmed from Idle Hour Park Sports Complex's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Clean complex featuring baseball and softball fields and a lake.
What runners say about Idle Hour Park Sports Complex
“Here it is Thanksgiving day, the bathroom is clean, there's toilet paper and soap in the soap dispenser.”
“Awesome Place, Beautiful quite relaxing Walking trail, Softball Complex and more.”
I loved this place growing up I spent alot of time there and I still go here today cause it's beautiful and nice great for walks and fishing great for the whole family even family reunions it's cheap and there are cheap place around to get food and have a picnic
My favorite walking spot in the Phenix City/Columbus area. My only complaint is that they recently euthanized a ton of ducks that lived at Moon Lake. The ducks have always been expected at this lake, and it’s a bit sad when you go there now and only see a few of them.
We walk there every morning, I wish the City would make sure all the street lights were working, it is very dark. It's really a beautiful place to walk and we feel safe walking.
A wonderful place to take the family for walking and getting close to nature. There are fun activities for children and the walking trail is great for burning off calories.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
