Confirmed from Phenix City Parks and Recreation's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park with a lake offering a playground, a walking trail, and fishing.
What runners say about Phenix City Parks and Recreation
“They have a very hard working crew keeping the parks and recreation centers up and clean.”
Nice wooded nature trail to jog or while walking the dogs. Be watchful of tree roots sprawling across the pathway. Park benches to watch the scenery along the trail. Only area for the dogs. Surrounding the lake is leveled pathway to view ducks, geese and swans. Across the roadway is a recreation center.
Visited Phenix City Parks & Rec to begin plannings for a Hunger Walk in May 2022 along the Riverwalk. The staff was very pleasant, provided helpful information and was just as excited as I.
We walk there most mornings. Wish they would keep the beavers from eating up all the Crepe Myrtles. It such a nice park.
Just a great place to walk around the lake. The playground area is clean and safe for kids.
Trail conditions & character
“Was also disappointed this last Christmas that the Christmas light scenes were placed downtown instead of at Moon Lake.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
