Confirmed from Indian River Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Indian River Park
The trails at this park are beautiful and are great for hiking and bike riding. There are several paths you can take. There are no bathrooms or picnic tables at the area we entered. This park is certainly more for hiking and riding than for a playground or a picnic.
Great park with lots of relatively flat and branching hiking and walking trails. Big enough that you won't run into many others even if the park is busy. Has a nature trail with the major local plants labeled.
The bike trails here are amazing. Talk about a hidden gem. This is a great place to take the kids as well for a walk/bike in the forest.
Great place for riding mountain bikes!!!! amazing ramp course and trails
Trail conditions & character
“This is a great place to go hiking or bird watching, take your dog on a walk, bring the kids.”
“Only thing that would make it better is having a porta-potty or restroom facility like some of the local Virginia Beach parks, and distance markers for the trails.”
“Entered via the small parking lot on northeast Rokeby Avenue side.”
Plan your run at Indian River Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
