Confirmed from Ironton Rail Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Paved walking trail on an old train track through a former industrial area, partly beside a river.

Beautiful paved trail. My visit today was on the portion passing under MacArthur Road. To trail head on the east side has a pavilion which can be rented from the township. About a quarter mile to the west of the pavilion is a junction of two branches of the trail.

New favorite trail. It's all paved, flat with a long straight away and a loop at the end if you begin at the park pavilion. The trail starts behind the baseball and basketball courts. It's mostly shaded, some areas do go across streets or have a street on one side, but it is flanked by trees for the most part.

Good place to get out and spin the legs on a bike. Suitable for any type of bike, because it’s all paved now. Nice option if it’s too wet to ride dirt.

Off to the kilns tomorrow. 5 miles today on foot. Check out the trail, folks. All aboard! Caboose #6 is a neat save!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
