Confirmed from Jim King Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Jim King Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (28 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“It's absolutely gorgeous.”

Great neighborhood trail.. starts in the neighborhood and ends at the Louisville Zoo parking lot. Great for birdwatching too. Plenty of benches for resting.

★★★★★ — Marlena , Sep 2025

GOOD: For being next to the zoo and within a densely populated area, trail offers a nice piece of seclusion. Lots of shade for hot summer days. CAUTIONS: Great trail for the neighborhood—I wouldn’t travel far for this one—definitely not a destination trail. Not much to see on this one.

★★★★☆ — Troy , Jul 2021

Paved trail, short easy walk. Will lead you along portion of Beargrass creek and end in Louisville zoo parking lot. Can support bicycle or even a wheelchair. Keep an eye out for the llamas in area. Great walk in winter, without foliage you can see farther through brush .

★★★★☆ — Gary , Jan 2019

Great streamline walking trail along Beargrass Creek. Also borders the Zoo.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 14 mentions

“Schuff Ln trailhead has no parking and not really sure if parking at the zoo trailhead is frowned on—though, One definitely could park at Creason Park and walk over.”

  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
