Confirmed from Johansen Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 6 mentions

“Quiet and low traffic, beautiful green space with plenty of area to run, kick the soccer ball, have a birthday party, or just be outside.”

Visited this park for the first time today with my mom! Absolutely one of my favorite parks I've ever been to! Very chill and quiet, and a great place to walk! There are lots of different trees, vegetation, animals and insects and a couple swings tied to some oak trees along the way.

This mature park has the benefit of stretching along for quite a Way, especially if you don't mind being off a beaten path. While there are more than a few dead/dying trees there at the moment, it's hard to notice them because of the beautiful and extensive canopy of mature trees. Enjoy the walk.

Beautiful place to walk your dog, relax on a bench or enjoy a picnic. I've even seen a yoga class!

★★★★★ — Brenna , Jul 2018

Johansen Park has an expansive green area ideal for dog walking, picnicking, or relaxing. It is in a neighborhood and parking is limited. There are no public bathrooms or a playground. A small stream with two small walking bridges runs through the middle of the park.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
