Confirmed from John Muir Mountain Biking Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park with hiking and mountain bike trails, including a skills course and a kids' loop.

“The various hiking trails are very clearly marked, with maps posted periodically as well.”
Beautiful trails in Kettle Moraine State Forest! The various hiking trails are very clearly marked, with maps posted periodically as well. I did the 8mile hike, and only saw 2 discarded water bottles along the whole trail. Very well kept up!
An excellent opportunity to hike in such beautiful surroundings. I particularly enjoyed the bike riders and their friendly attitude towards us. All of the bike riders we encountered were fun to see. A photographer's paradise of photo opps. Difficult to find a bad view. Several small ponds were gorgeous.
Hear me out — yes, this is primarily a bike trail with a lot of mountain bikers. That said, these trails are also fantastic for hiking and even trail running if you’re up for a challenge! Just stay alert and yield to bikers as they come through, and you’ll have an awesome hiking experience.
I have been going to this trail for years with my mountain bike. It's well maintained and has something for just about everyone. Very fun! I recently bought a gravel bike that claimed to be trail capable so I took it out to the John Muir to see if that held true.

“Super fun loop with a couple challenging climbs but mostly just fun flow trails.”
“The elevation are not bad but dealing with exposed rocks breaks your flow causing sudden stops a a bit of walking at least up hill.”
