Confirmed from Johnston Mill Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This tranquil, 296-acre nature preserve features wooded hiking trails & streams.

“It felt so peaceful, listening to the birds and the small animals rustling in the bushes.”
“Excellent place for an easy walk through the woods.”
Walked almost all the trails this morning. Lovely 3+ miles. Unfortunately not at all accessible, as trails are dirt and the wooded trails are very heavily covered with roots and divots, but easily navigated by folks without mobility issues. Well marked and lovely to look at.
My absolute favorite place to hike! Great for kids of all ages! Trail markings are clear and easy to read and the scenery makes me keep coming back!
This little gem of natural beauty is a few minutes from the city of Durham In the state of North Carolina. It is an easy hike even for small children. This trail has a small creek running down, it is a true beauty of a Nature Preserve. If you are ever in the area make sure to stop by and take a little stroll.
Great - easy mostly level trails that are well marked that sometimes follows the river. A bridge or two with some benches. Not crowed, small parking area. I took a photo of the map on the board at the entrance (glad I did). It helped take the trails we wanted.
