Confirmed from Kingfisher Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Kingfisher Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (79 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“There’s a beautiful hidden spot where the water is still and a pathway where you’ll huge trees creating almost like a dome, if that makes sense.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Very peaceful and relaxing area close to Nampa to get some exercise and ponder life.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Overall a pleasant new discovery for an easy hike in the country.”

Avid runner from the NW. Relocated to Northwest Boise and now Caldwell area. The North end trail system is one of the finest around however it isn't always feasible for me to drive an hour there. Kingfisher is a solid four star trail that I am giving 5 because of its location. From gate-to-gate one way it is 4.

Nice trail for a quick horse ride. Parking along the road due to the designated parking area is not meant for horse trailers (too small). Once on the trail you can keep going after you get to the King Fisher sign (about 3miles). All the parking lots you pass, you'll see are not meant for horse trailers.

We loved walking on this trail during the fall! There’s a beautiful hidden spot where the water is still and a pathway where you’ll huge trees creating almost like a dome, if that makes sense. It’s great for leisure or brisk walks and jogging.

Been walking this path since long before it was named or popular. Very peaceful and relaxing area close to Nampa to get some exercise and ponder life. I’ve met many others and had some nice conversations.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
