Fun fact: This area was preserved, maintained, & lived on by Elmer Kleb - a second generation German immigrant. His father Andreas Kleb, immediately felt at fascinated & at home in this forested area south of Spring Creek. Why?
Went at mid-day on an extremely hot day(feels like 105° temp) but the trees are tall and the trails are shady, it was cooler inside. Saw squirrels, rabbits, frogs, lizards and a few other critters. Great spot for bird watching. The nature center is air conditioned and easily reached from any of the trails.
This is an extensive area to walk🚶🏻♂️ and explore. 👀 Very well marked, signage, maps, detailed information. Lots of monthly events.🥳 It's more than just a nature preserve. It's a historical site〽️ There is much to learn
Anyone living in the northwest part of Houston should def check this place out, it's a bit hidden but a gem once you get there.there is restroom facilities, old farm equipment you can check out and historical building and a nice central nature center. Plenty of hikes and tucked away right off the freeway .
