Confirmed from Larus Park Trailhead, North's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park with creek access and trails for walking and biking, including one that leads through a tunnel.
What runners say about Larus Park Trailhead, North
“Trails are now well marked.”
A lovely 104 acre park near Huguenot and the river. In the autumn, the fall color was spectacular! There is a small, charming creek that runs through the park with trails that loop around. We saw lots of interesting fungi and plants on our hike. I would allow up to an hour and a half.
It was a quick walk, but it got us out of the house! Just a few pictures...nothing exciting, but we found it nice!
Nice hidden park with easy trails interwoven throughout. Trails are now well marked. New trail kiosks have been installed at trailheads and key junctions. From the Huguenot Rd. trailhead once you've crossed the stream if you venture up and to the right you will encounter stairs bringing you to an intersection.
I selfishly don't want to rate Larus well because I want to keep it a secret its so good! Trail system with multiple trail heads. Trails are a little more advanced, certainly be cautious of your footing. Its a true trail with some water crossings on rocks. Maintained amazingly. Good markers and directions.
Trail conditions & character
“trailhead once you've crossed the stream if you venture up and to the right you will encounter stairs bringing you to an intersection.”
“Only downside I would say is a lot (most) people are completely off leash with their dogs, trained and untrained.”
“Trails too narrow for bikes and pedestrian but if you do choose to ride there are many rocks, tree roots, sharp turns, declines and inclines, also a stair way.”
“There is a small, charming creek that runs through the park with trails that loop around.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
