Great place for hiking. Doesn't have much elevation except at a few places, quite easy. It is well covered in trees, so it gets dark earlier. Trails can be a little bit confusing as so many cross-tracks are there. I recommend using 'AllTrails' or some other maps. Not much bugs or mosquitos.
This is the entrance you want if you don't live in an adjoining neighborhood. About 11 parking spaces. Not a neighborhood entrance. The red trail is the most enjoyable. Bear left at the second fork. That is the most boring part of the trail. The side trails are nice but are really for neighborhood entrances.
This is not the easiest park to find, but I do find myself coming back here. It's quiet, there are not a lot of people, and it's just a peaceful, somewhat rough, trail. I included some photos of the damage and trail maintenance. Also, a lot of roots, invading the trail, making it stumble worthy.
Lovely urban hike. I had a maze of a time early morning soon after sunrise on the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Slightly difficult to find lot off Hugenot Rd before the fire station. Scared at the trailhead by a dog without a leash, that I ended up pleading with the owner. Thankfully the rest of the trail was great.
