Confirmed from Leach Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Leach Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (330 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Nice walking path, peaceful, beautiful scenery.”

Well maintained park that offers a nice short walk and a unique view of the bridge too. Small picnic shelters make a nice place for a picnic, here downtown.

★★★★★ — Troy , Nov 2023

This is an awesome area to visit, whether you're on foot, bike, or boat. There are bike / hike trails going both directions down the river, as well a boat ramp and plenty of picnic tables and benches. There's an awesome view of the i-74 bridge, including a walk under the bridge if you want.

★★★★★ — Traveler , Sep 2020

Leach Park was a nice quiet spot to walk, bike, or take in the views of the Mississippi. There were plenty of benches and also a few porch swings. The paved path that continued underneath the bridge was great for walking or biking.

★★★★★ — Beckie , Sep 2025

We went at night to see the lights on the bridge and it was awesome to see the lights changing on the bridge! Didn't get to walk on the pedestrian bridge or walk along the paths, but I will definitely be returning during the day time!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 10 mentions

“From under the shelter the river view is great and the picnic tables are convenient for a lunch.”

  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
