Confirmed from Lizards Mouth Rock's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 13 mentions

“I finally got to this side of the 154 and to my surprised I found this amazing rock formations, the day was a little over cast but still beautiful and this place was gorgeous.”

👟 good for all levels 4 mentions

“Small easy hike to the rock garden and lizards mouth where you can frequently find folks rock climbing and relaxing to take in the spectacular views.”

If you’re looking for something to do for a couple hours, here is the place. The entrance is not easy to find. GPS (Google map or Apple map) will not take you to the entrance. It’ll tell you you’ve arrived but you’re still in the middle of the road. Just keep driving up. You’ll start seeing views of rocks.

If you enjoy exploring around rocks, in small caves, rock scrambling or rock climbing, this park is always worth a visit. You can spend all day hiking and bouldering until your heart is content, and for serious climbers, there are multiple locations for belaying, rappelling, and some free climbing.

It was a short and easy hike, mostly about exploring interesting rock formations and expansive views. I liked that the rocks were grippy, like sandpaper so they were easy to walk on and climb. It's a great spot to enjoy lunch or some snacks and take in the view.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
