Confirmed from Lone Star Trail Trailhead #6's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Lone Star Trail Trailhead #6

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (207 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“By far my favorite and the most scenic trail within the Sam Houston National Forest.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Free parking, no entrance fee, shaded long trail that passes the lake intermittently.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“It’s peaceful, natural and very accessible with some parking off the road.”

Wonderful place to go camping! We don’t have many backcountry backpacking/camping options here in south Texas - so a place like this is a sanctuary. The terrain here changes so much as you hike through it which keeps things interesting.

★★★★★ — Devon , May 2022

We really enjoyed this trailhead! It’s a beautiful drive in, with plenty of parking spots when we visited (dirt lot). The trail was well marked. It was a short hike to view Lake Conroe! It was very serene!

★★★★★ — Family , Sep 2024

Hiked about 2.5 miles from the parking lot around the lake. Good view of Lake Conroe, lots of streams and swampy areas. Saw a lot of areas where hogs had been rooting around so watch out for those jerks.

★★★★★ — Totallynotredneckyall , Dec 2023

Free parking, no entrance fee, shaded long trail that passes the lake intermittently. It's long too, not sure how long but we had to turn around before second lake bank after like 1.5 hrs maybe.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
