We did 5.25 miles in 2 hours and 15 minutes. A great trail, well maintained and wide but could be marked better. Lots of dog walkers. We saw two deer about 30' from us. We also saw a red squirrel, a chipmunk and a snake swimming in the pond. It was a nice breezy day with no bugs.
Maudslay State Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The park's expansive trails wind through lush woodlands, offering breathtaking views of the Merrimack River. Wildlife enthusiasts will be thrilled by the abundance of birds, hawks, and deer.
Views, Gardens, Crumbling Ruins Really quite an incredible state park: I arrived around 2pm and stayed for sunset. There are winding paths along the river, through the gardens, and in the old ruins of an 1800s mansion. Maudslay has a peaceful, almost magical feel.
One of the finest rhododendron gardens around with a fragrance so strong smiles are abound. Hard-working Rangers are helpful And kind, always to give you time. Highly recommend a hike all year round.
