Confirmed from McCormick Forest Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about McCormick Forest Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (337 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 8 mentions

“Beautiful, Well kept trails and different types of trails for different levels of exertion.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“The little stream that runs through is beautiful as well as the growth - very magical if the light is right!”

Been wanting to try this trail system, it was a nice hike but the Google directions lead you right to the women's prison, so you have to turn around and head back till you see a fire station on your left and that is parking area for park, the trails were well kept not many people out, just a older couple.

Well maintained trail with lots of twists and turns. Even found a snake on the trail that startled my poor kid. It is a short trail but make sure you pay attention to where the trail ends. Oops. Lol. And there are some good hills, so not for those that need flat paths. I'd definitely go back. Another rate 5 tonight.

Stopped here a few weeks back since I wanted a quick walk with the dogs when I was nearby. It was super enjoyable and I would definitely recommend to others. It was well traveled without being overly crowded and obviously well maintained. Kudos to the parks system and community that oversees this beautiful space.

Gorgeous park with lots of trails with unique trees and creeks. You can spend a quick walk with the dog here or hike for hours around the trails. Some are steep for good cardio. They have an area for picnics as well.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at McCormick Forest Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
