Confirmed from Mill Hill Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Mill Hill Preserve
“Also other trails that send you to very scenic Hosensack Creek.”
“Not crowded, nice ,a creek near by,hills to clumb, moderate, dog off leash park”
This trail is of moderate difficulty as there are many large boulders to climb over and around throughout the ascent. You can take the red blaze trail up to highest point in Montgomery County and meet up with the Orange blade trail on way down by cutting down through power line openings for a flatter trail back to car.
What an awesome hidden gem! Nice parking area that includes a posted map and some information. First I went up the trail for the highest point in montco but realized I did not have the day light for that hike and turned around. I did a semi circle of the main trail and enjoyed that.
Nice quiet preserve with hiking trails. Parking can be a little difficult, and the trails are for the more advid hiker, and can be a little difficult with the rugged terrain. But if your looking to get out for a couple hours and want to stay local Mill Hill Preserve is a good place to go.
Nice quiet location for a hike. Orange trail was just about 2 miles with some wandering along the creek. Counter-clockwise takes you to the creek first. Very few people when we started. Parking area had 5 or 6 cars when we left.

“Great place to run too, but some parts require a good amount of trail running experience due to rocks/boulders and steep slopes.”
