Confirmed from Mohican-Memorial State Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
A nature retreat with forests, a river gorge, canoeing & fishing plus cabins, campgrounds & a lodge.
What runners say about Mohican-Memorial State Forest
“The preferred cabin was clean and quiet and next to the river.”
“Main trailheads go right through this area and you can be hiking or biking within 5 minutes on a trail heading to some of the most beautiful places in the park.”
“Trails are generally well marked and easy to follow.”
“Moderately trafficked for a Saturday morning, but still spaced out enough to enjoy real peace and quiet.”
A really nice park for an Ohio State Park. I've done a number of trail races in the park over the years but never camped out or hiked the park until late March 2024. The campground is pretty tightly packed with spots so be prepared to get to know your neighbors. The campground facilities were well kept and clean.
Did the swinging bridge hike. It was so beautiful. The hike is pretty steep on the one side, it has a ladder. We had our dog. She was able to navigate getting down safely but an older or less experienced dog would have had trouble. Bring proper foot wear and a hiking stick.
Absolutely amazing park with a variety of hikes and experiences. We enjoyed visiting the lodge, the grist mill, and the hike from the covered bridge, to the dam, to the falls and back. The fire tower was also an interesting climb up to the top.
I have visited Mohican state park many times beginning in the 70s and loved it every time. The lodge is beautiful and spacious and the food is great. The preferred cabin was clean and quiet and next to the river. Great hiking trails.
