Confirmed from Motorcycle Hill's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Motorcycle Hill
“This is a small but very hilly trail for hiking, no you can't ride your bikes up there, the view of San Francisco, Mt Tamalpais and o lot of the east bay is beautiful.”
Gorgeous hill with an old log bench over looking the Bay. Heavenly to watch sunset from
This is a small but very hilly trail for hiking, no you can't ride your bikes up there, the view of San Francisco, Mt Tamalpais and o lot of the east bay is beautiful. The sunsets on a clear day are amazing.
An excellent hiking spot! It's easy enough for an hour's distraction, but difficult enough at points to work up a little sweat. Some of the views are gorgeous, especially on clear days, and the elevation difference from top to bottom is about 90 feet. If you're quiet you can catch some local wildlife doing their thing.
A bit steep. If you are taking big dogs who like to pull, you will need to either be strong enough to control them or let them walk on their own. The trail is narrow so need to watch out for other dogs if you have reactive dogs. It's a good short climb with awesome view of El Cerrito.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
