Confirmed from Rifle Range Road Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Rifle Range Road Trailhead
“Down side is no shade, so be prepared to go early or have sunscreen on.”
Nice hiking area near residential neighborhood. You can chose your own distance. There’s a hilly loop that we do, it’s about 3 miles, great workout in 1.5hrs. Down side is no shade, so be prepared to go early or have sunscreen on. If you have pups, please brings lots of water for them.
Great hike with lots of options within Wildcat Canyon. This entrance is all downhill when you start, and a lot of uphill if you're circling back. Parking on Rifle Range Rd. is limited (on weekends), and the road turns off to a private road at the trail head.
A peaceful hike with a hint of adventure. We encountered several cows along the trail and even spotted a coyote — enough wildlife to make things feel exciting but still safe. The cows won’t bother you, but they absolutely keep an eye on you as you pass. The inclines and declines are steady and easy to handle.
Hidden gem in North Berkeley / El Cerrito. A bit of hike to reach the gate where you can find cows in the area behind. If you walk up the slope you can see Golden Gate Bridge and SF. Can park outside the entrance to the trail.
