Confirmed from Mt Jumbo Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Mt Jumbo Trailhead
“It was beautiful and the trails are well kept.”
“Hiking trails are kind of narrow, but well marked.”
Great hike. Very few people on this trail! I took the south trail to make a long loop and only say 3 other people. A little hazy from fires but otherwise just incredible. Trail is well maintained and easy to follow.
Nice day hike. Beautiful views over east Missoula. You can hike up and around to the L and it's a gorgeous view. Some steep hills to climb which can make you winded but not to hard for anyone in decent shape.
One of the most popular trails in Missoula, not open in the winter to protect Elk. This is the best access to the top of Jumbo from the North (but biking to Jumbo not allowed). Once fully open great biking trails are available to the North. Also, a 25-30 min bike to Marshall Mtn trail head (up and over the saddle...
Parking can be tricky (hint, park at the elementary school on evening and weekends), but the L is another classic Missoula letter and the trail is far less busy than the overused M trail.
