Confirmed from Mt. Washington Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

One of the best views in Pittsburgh! Mt. Washington offers a breathtaking skyline of downtown Pittsburgh that feels like a postcard come to life. From the top, you can see the stunning three rivers, the iconic Point State Park fountain, and the beautiful blend of historic and modern architecture.

Very nice park, lots of amenaties. Portapotty, kids playground, well maintained basketball court, two baseball fields complete with bleachers. Also a small ramp for skateboarders. And that's not to mention the two trails, Dilworth and Emerald View. Very nice trails, lots of trees and some decent views.

Great place for kids to play. A young children's playground with baseball fields and a basketball court. It is also a trail head for hiking trails that wind around Mt. Washington.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
