Confirmed from Emerald View Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Emerald View Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (3,544 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“One of my FAVORITE Parks in Pittsburgh to see the gorgeous skyline and just hang out to have a picnic, watch the sunset and enjoy the beautiful city.”

I hiked in starting from the Green Leaf Trailhead starting just before sunrise, which was an amazing decision. Hiking along and emerging on Mt. Washington at sunrise is the way to go. There are many outlooks and several outcroppings that offer an even better, less obstructed view.

★★★★★ — Josh , Nov 2021

Another hidden gem in Pittsburgh. There IS a small parking lot off E. Sycamore street. There are many access points and plenty of trail to hike. Lots of photo opportunities as well. An interesting blend of natural beauty and city sights. Great for dog walking. Food and entertainment close by in Mt. Washington.

★★★★★ — Mike , Aug 2021

This park always been close to my home so my husband and I frequently take walks through this beautiful gem. It's small but it's only a part of a large network of park trails that runs through Mt. Washington and the south hills.

★★★★★ — Sierra , Mar 2021

This is clearly a hidden treasure of a park at the far end of Grandview Ave (the main straight across Mt. Washington). It gives a totally different perspective view of the point and Ohio River than the lookout spots closer to the incline.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
