Confirmed from Munger State Trail Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Munger State Trail Trailhead
“It's a paved trail through beautiful trees and there are portions with rock walls.”
The northern access point to Willard Munger State Trail (near Lake Superior Zoo) is quite confusing as it is actually an access point to three different trails. Once you’ve figured out the right trail, it is paved and very scenic.
Amazing trail, Minnesota never disappoints when it comes to trails. We biked from the trailhead in Duluth to the trailhead in Carlton and back. The active infrastructure was incredible and even in the areas with construction they gave alternative routes. Would highly recommend.
Great place to park for Munger or Waabizheshiikana Trails. Even has an accessible porta-potty on site in the spring- fall seasons. Trail is packed down by snowmobiling, but still a bit harder to walk.
I didn’t have much time, just an hour but enjoyed a nice snowshoe with views along the shore and campground. Nice wide trails.
