Confirmed from Naugatuck State Forest Quillinan Reservoir Block's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

The walk was very nice, when I first went in I followed the blue markers, which is more straight forward than the purple trail. I'd say it's an easy hike.

An extremely pleasant walk. The trail is well marked by the blue or purple trail markers. It a little hard to see the trail because of the leaves on the grounds because of autumn. However, very quiet and pretty. There is hunting around this time of the year, so make sure to wear bright clothing to avoid getting shot.

I love the energy of all the boulders. ❤️🤘 The trail markers aren't always visible. I got confused a couple of times but overall it wasn't a big deal and I really enjoy this place. I recommend using an app to track your walk so you can compare it to the map if necessary

Super fun hike through densely wooded area. We took the 6 mile purple trail loop which was under some renovation. The first half had elevation changes and switchbacks. The way back on the blue trail was wide and mostly flat. Very cool boulders throughout. I saw an owl!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
