Confirmed from Ni River Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Well-worn, easy wooded trails for hiking and walking, plus a pond, home to salamanders.

A small relatively unknown trail with over 3 miles of trails. Well maintained. It has a farm pond, and two vernal ponds where Salamanders breed.

Really cool trail system! It looks like they've been expanding the trails recently because I took a trail that wasn't even on the map. It was definitely buggy, so probably better to do it in the morning in the summer or wait until it gets cooler.

My daughter and I loved these trails. The ponds were cool. The Ni River was beautiful. The trails were well worn and well marked. Informational signs and tree identification tags made the trail a great learning experience. The trails make a big loop so hiking was easy and fun.

Beautiful trail, we went on a rainy day and saw some salamanders out and about.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • Loop distance1.5 mi back to where you parked
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
