Confirmed from Alum Spring Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Tranquil park offering shaded walking paths, picnic areas & playgrounds, plus a fitness trail.
What runners say about Alum Spring Park
“Overall, Alum Springs Park is a fantastic destination for outdoor enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking to unwind in a beautiful natural setting.”
“There are bathrooms, a shaded parking lot, a shaded playground and the creek is fantastic!”
This has always been 1 of my favorite parks in Fredericksburg. Decent little trails, 2 that go around water. The benches on the lower trail do need to be repaired, but the playground is solid for kiddos. They do have a few spots to grill as well.
Great place to stop on a road trip. Not too far off I-95. We stopped when there was an accident backing up traffic on our trip home. So much nature packed into a small park, the stream is nice and cool and easy to wade in, there are trail maps at the trailhead for those that don't know the area, lots of wildlife.
Alum Springs Park in Fredericksburg, VA, is an absolute gem! Nestled in the heart of nature, this park offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The trails are well-maintained and provide a serene environment for hiking, walking, or just soaking in the beauty of the surrounding woods.
Wonderful park along a large creek/spring. Connects to the VA railway path near restrooms. Lots of paths in the woods, large playground with swing set, walking bridge over creek near entrance, natural features, pavilions & picnic tables. Something for everyone. Very shady, great for summer.
