Confirmed from Nichols Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Nichols Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (181 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Great to have drinking fountain right there, park beaches spread about, very well kept play set and beautiful green park altogether.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“The park is great in the summer when it's hot since the play area is shaded by trees.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“The park not only has a recreational playground for all ages, it also has baseball, soccer and basketball courts and a bike trail.”

Quaint park with a small playground and walking path. The path goes back a little farther than it looks as it crosses the old train tracks which used to run into NYC.

★★★★★ — Rob , Nov 2022

A great small park best for young children. Parking is usually easy near the swings. There's a parking area by the intersection near the railroad, too. The park is great in the summer when it's hot since the play area is shaded by trees. Softball teams often play on the field, Erich is fun to watch.

My grandkids and their friends ❤️ Nichols Park! The park not only has a recreational playground for all ages, it also has baseball, soccer and basketball courts and a bike trail. Plenty of parking behind the baseball field.

★★★★★ — Chicster , Aug 2022

One of the few parks with shade around here. So even when the playground is small is very pleasant to be here There's OPEN bathroom in the park so that's a plus plenty of space to walk.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
