Confirmed from Oak Hill Hiking Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Oak Hill Hiking Trails

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (175 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“At the top is the fire tower that you can climb for some beautiful views, as well as a picnic table for lunch and a little clearing for kids to run around in.”

🪧 well-marked 3 mentions

“Tower Trail is easy to moderate and is well marked with yellow squares and well maintained with a few platform bridges, not named Jeff or Lloyd.”

Easy quick trail hike from the road parking area of the trail head. This day the Fire watch was high so the Fire Marshal was up at the top of the Tower. I was able to go inside the top and check it out and have a conversation. Popular spot. People coming and going with their furry friends.

Nice trail system just 10ish minutes form downtown Concord. Tons of different trail, and a fire tower at the tok of Oka Hill give a great view of the surrounding countryside including some ranges off in the diatance

Enjoyed walking this trail. It is marked clearly. But still print out the map at home or take a picture of the map on your smartphone as you enter. You can take the yellow trail all the way from Shaker Road or choose to explore some of the less direct paths from Oak Hill Road or Shaker Road.

Nice hike this morning at Oak Hill! The fire tower is currently under construction so you can't go up to check out the views at this time. There's a lot of black flies at the top where the tower is. I recommend a natural non toxic bug spray made with essential oils and always check for ticks. Happy Hiking!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
