Confirmed from Oak Hill Reservation Lookout Rock Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Alternatively, and recommend, you can go right and go along the perimeter loop (yellow), and get great views of the chasms below.”

Great 3.3 mile loop trail which takes you to a lovely lookout rock and a side trail down into a chasm. There is also an interior loop through the woods, beautiful trail with moderate uphill sections.

★★★★★ — Eric , Oct 2022

A beautiful hill spot for an easy everyday hike. Lots of well-marked trails to choose from to make it a 2-3 mile loop depending on your preference.

★★★★★ — Abigail , Jan 2023

Always a good hike. Quick loop along the chasm, to the fire road and up to lookout rock. "You can see Boston on a clear day, look for the Prudential Tower". Maybe 30-60min round trip, depending on pace. Great spot for pictures. Hikes well in the winter too, though be careful on the steep portions.

★★★★★ — Michael , Mar 2019

You can hike straight to the overlook if you go left along the perimeter loop from the beginning (yellow). This is less than a mile, but a fair amount of elevation gain (no rock scrambles). Alternatively, and recommend, you can go right and go along the perimeter loop (yellow), and get great views of the chasms below.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
