We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Old Rail Hiking Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Old Rail Hiking Trail
Kind of difficult to find the trailhead at first but this is a very cool spot! Will definitely be returning. Look out for the blue spray painted arrow that marks the start of the trail.
I loved this trail, an accidental find. Well marked. There were some beautiful views. Part of the Letter Box system if you are into that. Inclines where you can use a rope or a walking stick. Pretty well maintained.
I was surprised I didn't know of this trail sooner. It is a great trail to hike. Ropes available on steeper inclines. I saw a lot of ducks hanging about the lakes. But beware of the door in woods. Plus not a bad place to find some nice rocks around the railway.
